Ok so as far as i know there is only one way to get a "friend" status with other players: helping upgrading and building. But at level 50 most of the people in your instance have upgraded all their things so thats no an option.

 

Leave a simple request.

- this is basicly just a friend request that would show up in a window similar to a raid notification . it has an image of the person sending the request, their name, and a simple "yes" or "no". click yes , they are your friend, click no , you remain enemies or netrual, its that simple.

oh, and i helped the people out in my neighborhood(though only those that were online when i was) more times than i bothered to count in excess of people with an "enemy" status, and its still just "friendly"
